Brady Einstein

*If you don't like "listen to how smart my child is" posts, this one is not for you!  :)

 Brady is a very smart little boy.  He amazes us everyday with new things he knows and he has an incredible memory.  This kid could be ready for Kindergarten! Here are some of the things he is doing right now at 2 1/2 that I want to remember:

ABC's--This kid is addicted (as his cousin Jace said) to the alphabet.  We do letter things all day long.  Most nights, we have an AB-Castrophe to clean up!  He can:
*Sing the alphabet song
*Write letters in the air
*Do all of the letters in sign language
*He knows the sound that each letter makes and can match up uppercase and lowercase.
*When we read, he likes to say each letter on the page.
*He always has to have them in order or it drives him nuts.
*He can type the alphabet on a keyboard with no mistakes and put spaces between the letters.  He will also type his name and STOP.
*He can sing his ABC's BACKWARDS!? I was trying to keep him entertained while I was nursing Tanner one day, so I was trying to see if I could do it.  Without me even trying to teach him, he was able to say them.  It was just like he had a picture of what they looked like in his mind and he was just reading them.

 *When we drive in the car, he likes to "Find the A," then "Find the B", all the way to Z.  I always feel relieved when we make it to the end, but then he wants to immediately start over.
*We have the big foam letters that connect together and he has the color of all the letters memorized.
*He woke up one night panicked and he kept saying "N's gone, N's gone."  ???
*When we read books, he identifies the periods and commas.
*He can spell the words box, red, cat, go, car, and library (it has a lot of the same letters as Brady). One time I wrote "dog" on our Magnadoodle and asked him what it said. He thought about it for a minute and then said "Bronco" who is my parent's dog.
*All day long he says "Momma, draw AB's" or "Momma, draw numbers again."
*He wants to make letters out of everything, like glow sticks, train tracks, pipe cleaners.
*He loves Super Why, especially Alphapig.
*He will definitely be reading within a few months!

This was the best $1 investment we ever made!

Numbers--
*We learned tonight that he can correctly type any number from 1-100 you tell him to.
*He can count up to 30 on his own and can count backwards from 20-1.
*He will stand on a stool and watch the numbers on the microwave change.
*He has my 2012 family calendar in his room, he likes to look at the pictures of our family in it.  He woke me up one morning concerned that February only had 29 days in it and told me "30's missing."
*We have been working on potty training and the best thing we discovered is to tell him the next time he will go pee pee. We choose times like 11:11 or 12:34.  His favorite time to go it 8:08. He will run into the kitchen to see the time on the stove and the microwave, then asks to see the time on my phone and my insulin pump.
*Brady wears his undies during the day, but won't poop on the potty.  He only goes when he is in his room by himself. I asked him this morning when he was going to go on the potty and with some attitude, he said "Zero, zero, zero, zero, zero poopies on the potty." Great, any suggestions?
*He sometimes keeps a running total of things, like the number of fire hydrants we pass while we are out running.
*When he sees a sign or something, he can quickly identify how many of each letter there is.  For instance, even before Tanner was born, we were out walking and he saw a DEAD END sign. He looked at it and said "3 D's, 2 E's"
*He counts everything, like how many stairs there are when he goes down or how many grapes he has on his plate.

When Brady looks around, he sees numbers and letters everywhere.  For example, the snow that hasn't melted on the mountain makes a V, the telephone poles are T's, sticks on the ground are Y's, I's, or J's, etc.

It's kind of sad that he is already ahead of some of the 3rd and 4th graders I had.  He just loves learning, so we're just going with it and will continue to challenge him where we can.  I'm glad that I won't have him in my school class, his teacher's will have a hard time keeping him interested.  Hopefully he won't turn out to be too dorky because he's so smart...but he's happy, funny, and just so dang cute.  We're so glad he's a part of our family!
